General:
Annual herb from a taproot; stems spreading, threadlike, diffusely branched, covered with stalked, often dark glands, 5-20 cm long/tall.
Leaves:
Mostly entire and hairless, 1-2 cm long, the basal leaves few, lanceolate and sometimes forming a small rosette, the stem leaves alternate, linear to linear-oblong, progressively reduced upwards, ultimately to bracts.
Flowers:
Inflorescences loose, of 2 or 3 stalked flowers per branch, the stalks curved or bent downwards, gland-dotted; corollas white or pale yellow, sometimes bluish-tipped, bell-shaped, 1.5-3 mm long, the short tube flaring to five lobes from 1/2 to as long as the tube; calyces 1/2 as long as the corollas.
Fruits:
Capsules, spherical, with 1-seeded chambers; seeds ellipsoid, becoming sticky when moistened.
